It's the early winter now, leaves have fallen off the trees, nature is telling you to calm down and prepare for winter.

November is also the time to prepare for Christmas - unless all of you parents have been planning ahead already!

Time to write christmas cards, and let everyone know what you have been up to in the past 12 months, if you haven't seen your family or old friends recently. Tell them what changes you have made with a little support and encouragement from your life coach!!

What do you want a career or a job?
 

Where do you see yourself in 3 months?, 12 months? And 5 years time? Are you doing the job that you've always dreamed of? or just trundling along to pay the bills and making sure everyone else in your family is ok?

What can you do about it? What were your dreams when you were little? Dreaming of becoming a fireman, engineer or hairdresser? But what is your job now?....

What would you be doing if you knew you couldn't fail? Where would you be now? How much would you be earning? Where would you be living? This country or abroad?

I had always wanted to be a chef, as I liked cooking and experimenting. I went to Catering College , studied for my qualifications, and achieved a HND in Hospitality Management. I stayed in the industry for 14 years. Working all hours and meeting lots of people along the way, which I really enjoyed.

I then decided to change career, so here I am now with my own business in Life Coaching which I absolutely love - meeting people, and helping them to achieve their dreams - careers or otherwise - as I have done and strive to do so today.

An unfulfilling career is so soul- destroying. How rewarding it is to help a client discover the work they were born to do! It's you my clients that inspire me, and impress me with all of your ideas of what you would like to have as a profession rather than just a job. You are making the necessary changes to have the life that you always dreamed of.

Where are you now careerwise?
 

Take a snapshot picture of where you are right now.

Use these basic questions:

• What kind of work do I find both energising and challenging?
• What outcomes does my present or next employer really seek?
• How can I exploit the overlap, or create one?
• What comes natural and easy to me? What do I do without struggle?
• What are my strengths, talents and gifts? What are my natural abilities?
• What is missing from my work now? What was missing from my previous jobs?
• Is there anything I want to do but have held back for some reason?

Take as much time as you need to evaluate yourself using these questions until you are satisfied with your answers which will give you some valuable information about your career direction.

The key to having a satisfying and brilliant career knows yourself: knowing and using your strengths, understanding your values and what you need to do your best work. When we can create a job that fits around us - rather than us struggling to fit it - then we can be truly happy.
